What is it?
Well, in short it is kind of like predictive text on your mobile – except this is predictive search.  An it takes it one step futher – the search results change as you type!

I have been playing with this after reading about it on SEO Book and dam it is fast!  But also kind of bewildering at first as it hits you with a shock.

The other side of it is that the search box expands a bit to show you choices and that pushes down the results meaning you get to see maybe the top 3 listings only as you type.

What will it mean for SEO?
I would like to say, not much.  But this is going to have some effect.  With speeds like this, on page optimisation is going to be incredibly important and page speed will be a major factor now in determining who gets to that top 3 positions.

SEO Tip – Optimise your images!  Keep them under 100kb in size.

Positive Side
You may get ‘free exposure’ as someone typing for one thing might stumble across your site, but only if its ranking well enough in the results page, and this is a very very small bonus.

I for one am worried that this is now another bad idea from Google…
