To be motivated to write posts I took the idea from a friend… the A to Z of SEO…
Now most of you probably are aware that you cannot have a website without content, but very few bloggers and site owners realise that the structure and layout of that content is just important as the subject matter.
Headings
Headings refer to the actual tags used in the content (copy). An H1 should be at the top, usually short, containing the subject title. This should be followed by second heading (H2) that is a bit longer, in a sentence form describing the copy in more detail.
Following this, h3, h4 etcetera tags can be used in order wherever relevant. Many people instead use bold tags (like I have on my ‘Headings’ section) which is ok as well.
First Paragraph
Whatever it is you are writing about, even if you are not fully aware of what search term you think someone will use to find this page, that should still be in the back of your head. The first paragraph lays out the initial introduction to the page or subject and should definitely include a keyword based on the subject matter of the page or post.
Body
The rest of the document should be uniform in structure across your site. Two or three more paragraphs containing a few references to your primary keyword or subject title/heading. One can also use synonyms or relative terms when writing.
The main idea here though is to write for your readers and not worry much about the search terms. Bulleted lists can also be used in the main body of the copy, if you have enough content before and after the list.
Use of ‘bold’ and ‘italics’. One or two occurrences of either is fine, but don’t go over board. Bold either your main ‘topic’ or keywords or as emphasis on a particular section of the page. Italics should not be used too much as, depending on your font style and size, can be quite unreadable.
Last Paragraph
Like the first paragraph, this one is important and should be a ‘conclusion’. Repeat key points and add in a keyword or heading word/title. Depending on the page, this can be followed up with a Call to Action – example: Contact us now for a free quote, etc..
