Well Happy New Year to everyone.
I thought would kick it off with some Resolutions.
Firstly I did the ultimate Detox today. I deleted all the games off of my Computer. (Yay for me!) Reason for doing this was so that I could focus on getting my blogs back up and running smoothly again and also I want to start work on a new short story / fictional novel that is fresh in my mind and currently I do not need an distractions from it – save from the normal ones (ie work and family life and right now both of those are very good)
So what are your Resolutions?
2012 SEO Resolutions
For the SEO industry and work wise I think its time I consolidate and focus on getting some real juicy articles out there. I also want to publish something on SEO Moz and perhaps look at a few other sites in the sector to do some guest blogging on. I want to be known and want to make a name for myself. (a name I share with a religious figure…)
2012 SEO Predictions
Some thoughts on the new year in the terms of SEO. Well lets look back at 2011, Google released a lot of changes and a good one was announcing Algo changes on the Blog. Good on you Google. Of course, that said, I don’t think they announce it before hand and it could be days or even weeks after a change has been implemented before you get the official word, but that said, its a good start.
Google also rolled out Google+ Pages for business. This is a good step forward on their social endeavours. Google has finally seems to have things right when it comes down to it. Although there are a lot of similarities between Facebook and Google+ I do believe they have the formulae right and this time it will stick around.
Recently, an article on Web Pro News and Search Engine Land shows that Personal Results are definitely here to stay, and logged in users with Google Profiles (IE Google+ ‘Accounts’) can now see posts that are shared with them, even private ones shared only with them. Another step to get you and keep you logged in to Google. On a side note though, this is only for Google+. Twitter and Facebook is not included.
Ok. SEO Prediction wise.
Local Search is a must. Now with Google+ Pages you can improve your listings on Google with another link/citation from your own Google account to your local listing.
Mobile in Australia will continue to grow and be used more and more often. Companies may start moving away from the ‘App fever’ and instead opt for complete Mobile Websites – this is the direction I think many should take. Apps will still be useful but more in the food/take away/bookings industries I think.
Link Building won’t change much but will get more challenging. Finding valuable links and keeping them will be the biggest challenge to SEOs and link builders
Content will continue to be the king of the hill. Fresh content and unique content is a must for almost all websites. Blogs attached to company sites will be more valuable than separate blogs, self hosted or otherwise. If you don’t have time to write your own content, hire someone that will.
More applications and services and tools will undoubtedly come out to shake the nest, but a few of the stable ones will remain.
So. What are your predictions and resolutions for this year?
